Timo Werner has told Germany team-mate Kai Havertz that a move away from Chelsea this summer would be best for his career. The former Blues striker’s comments could aid Mauricio Pochettino’s summer shake-up at Stamford Bridge, with the Argentine needing to make space and raise funds.
However, Kai Havertz has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea after contributing to the club’s failure to qualify for Europe next season.
Moreover, Real Madrid have been in the conversation, Arsenal are among other clubs said to be eyeing a move for the 23-year-old.
Pochettino could view Havertz as an opportunity to deal with his unsettled Blues squad and bolster his transfer process ahead of his maiden campaign.
And while on international duty with Germany, Werner suggested that it would be better for Havertz if he were playing in European competition next term.
“Kai [Havertz] always got his minutes, no matter how things went at Chelsea,”.
Timo Werner explained.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are so desperate for a goalscorer after Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling finished as the Blues’ top scorers with nine strikes each to their names last term.
