In a swift response to public outcry, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained 20-year-old Tiktok sensation Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following a disturbing viral video that captured him engaging in dangerous reckless driving during a live stream.

The Viral Incident and Crash

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, resulted in a severe car crash, raising serious concerns about road safety and the responsibilities of online content creators.

However, The TikTok influencer and live streamer Habeeb Hamzat popularly known as Peller,  has sparked concern after sharing a disturbing post that suggested he was  in severe emotional distress.

Meanwhile, Just days before the incident, on December 6, 2025, Peller proudly showcased his newly acquired 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV on social media—a symbol of his rising success.

Perhaps, the events of December 14 painted a starkly different picture. In the viral livestream, Peller was seen driving erratically on a public road in Lagos, reportedly in a state of emotional distress.

However, the reckless behavior stemmed from a recent breakup with fellow TikTok influencer Jarvis (Elizabeth Amadou), with whom he had a highly publicized relationship.

During the stream, Peller appeared distraught, leading to speculation that the crash was deliberate.
The video quickly spread across platforms, showing the luxury SUV sustaining significant damage in the accident.

Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, but the incident endangered not only Peller’s life but also those of other road users.

On December 16, 2025, the Lagos State Police Command issued an official statement announcing Peller’s arrest.

Signed by Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi on behalf of Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh, the release described the actions as a “deliberate attempt to commit suicide” while endangering innocent lives.

As of now, The Lagos Police Arrest TikTok Influencer Peller and The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough probing, with assurances that findings will be publicized and Peller charged accordingly.

Police Warning to Influencers

After the Lagos Police Arrest TikTok Influencer Peller, CP Jimoh used the opportunity to issue a stern warning to social media influencers, content creators, and the public: “Desist from using social media platforms to engage in or promote reckless, dangerous, or unlawful and criminal acts.

Such lawlessness will not be tolerated, and the full weight of the law will be applied on any offender.”
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has also indicated plans to prosecute Peller for traffic violations, highlighting the broader issue of distracted and reckless driving amplified by social media clout-chasing.

Apparently, This arrest has sparked widespread debate online. While some view it as necessary accountability—especially given Nigeria’s high rate of road accidents due to speeding and negligence—others question the criminalization of attempted suicide, arguing for mental health support instead. Peller’s ex, Jarvis, has urged fans to show empathy rather than mockery, describing him as deeply emotional.
