The second day of Lagos Street Soccer Star Oshodi 2025 launched by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has continued to thrill action from football fans, showcasing raw talents of the grassroots upcoming soccer stars in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area.
The first edition of soccer competition which was organized by the Senior Aide to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Atewogboye Adebanji Adeoye (SKIBANJ).
Promoting grassroots sports development and community engagement among the teaming youths who stormed the venue to watch teams from various wards and communities across the area.
Vying for top spots with cash prizes; #500,000 for winner, #250,000 for the 1st runner-up, and #100,000 for 2nd runner-up in the 3-Aside soccer competition matches were played with intensity and passion among the participating teams in group B, showcasing the exceptional skills of the players.
The 7-day Street Soccer Competition initially featured 16 accredited teams but eight teams have been knocked out of the competition yesterday and during today’s matches.
The remaining 8 teams would locked horns against each other to qualify for quarter final, as the competition promises to be a remarkable street soccer in Lagos state
Residents and communities of Oshodi-Isolo were also seen rejoicing as the tournament reactivated community spirit.
They expressed their appreciation to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu who launched the initiative, the first of its kind in the area, through the office of the Senior Aide to the governor on Grassroots Sports Development, Lagos.
This innovative approach reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, responsive governance, and youth empowerment..
